How does the Sperm Donation Process Work
The donor screening process lasts approximately 20 minutes. During this time, the donor will provide a sample that is then screened for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), hepatitis B or C, HIV-1 or 2, and various genetic diseases, including cystic fibrosis. Once accepted by our staff, the donor has to complete an application form which includes an agreement not to contact any offspring conceived through his donation.
All donors must be between the ages of 18 and 45 years of age and in good health. Our staff will meet with you before donation to go over the details of the process and answer any of your questions.
The donation process takes place in our on-site facility. Over the course of a session, donors produce 2-4 samples that are frozen and quarantined for six months before being released for use by the recipients. For each successful donation, donors receive $50 in compensation.
We recommend that you donate close to the time in which you may be used by recipients who are trying to conceive. However, if this schedule does not work, we can release your sperm from quarantine as late as one year after the date of your last donation.
The entire process usually takes anywhere from 5 to 9 months
