Kim Kardashian just welcomed her third baby. What may surprise you is that instead of getting pregnant herself, she turned to a surrogate for her third child.
On January 15, 2018, in Chicago, Kim and Kanye West welcomed to the world a healthy, beautiful girl. And, they couldn’t be happier about the fact that they turned to a surrogate to make their dreams a reality.
In the April issue of Elle, Kim revealed that she didn’t particularly like being pregnant. She was even told by doctors that she wouldn’t be able to survive another natural birth. But she still wanted another child. She even asked younger sister Khloe about being her surrogate. Finally, she was confronted with the idea of letting go.
As it turns out, Kim’s best option was to turn to a surrogate.
What Does The Process Of Surrogacy Look Like?
Kim’s story is positively inspiring. And, it may have you thinking about surrogacy as well.
When Kim determined that pregnancy was out of the question, Kim and Kanye began the process of finding a surrogate.
The surrogate was in fact what’s referred to as a gestational carrier, because both Kim and Kanye’s DNA were used.
Having found someone they trusted, the next decision was whether to have a boy or a girl. Kim decided she wanted the healthiest child possible, which turned out to be a girl.
Kim referred to their surrogate as “the greatest gift one could give”.
Who Was Kim & Kanye’s Surrogate?
In the season 14 finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it was revealed that La’Reina Haynes was the one who gave birth to Kim and Kanye’s baby girl.
Haynes referred to this as a special experience, and she’s proud of doing it.
Asked whether it was difficult to carry a baby, Haynes answered that she enjoyed pregnancy because of how natural it feels.
She even went on to say:
“I know what my job is in all of it. It makes me feel important because I’m like, ‘Wow, I did something so good.’ This is beautiful. I would do this again a thousand more times.”
In Haynes’ case, it’s likely there was also a monetary reward. That may not be available to all surrogate mothers, but as Haynes’ enthusiasm demonstrates, it was both a rewarding and fulfilling experience for her.
